Karim Ladak

I’m Karim, a software engineer with a background in computational biology. I studied at UT Austin, where I ended up moving between computer science, biology, research, and eventually a lot of building on my own. I’ve always liked learning enough about a problem to understand what is actually going on before deciding how technology fits into it.

That curiosity has taken me into some pretty different environments. I’ve worked on software at companies like Expedia and Sysco, spent time doing research, and built projects around problems I encountered in science and healthcare. Some of the things on this site started because I wanted to test an idea. Others came from seeing something frustrating in the real world and wondering if I could build a better way to do it.

I tend to get very into whatever catches my attention. Sometimes that means learning why a particular fragrance is structured the way it is or working on something I found interesting enough to lose a weekend to. Outside of work, I collect fragrances and spend a lot of time in the gym. I also love getting outdoors, especially for things like backpacking and rock climbing. Parasailing is another favorite whenever I get the chance.
